The Legislature’s Finance & Management Committee held a meeting in Erie County Hall on Thursday to hear testimony from District Attorney John J. Flynn Jr. and officials in Cheektowaga, where
Cheektowaga Maryvale Union Free School District paid $8.4 million to settle five Child Victims Act lawsuits alleging sexual abuse of students in the 1970s by a music teacher.
"Everyone worked very hard to ensure the resources were there and that the school districts could handle it," said Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.
