New ordinance allows for arrest for first-time drug offenses in Marysville

In its struggle to curb drug-related crimes and substance abuse, the city of Marysville has come up with its own work-around for legislation that decriminalized drug possession in Washington state. 

Military important to local communities

The Marysville and Arlington communities are stronger because of nearby military bases such as the Marysville Army Reserve Center and Naval Station Everett. May is Military Appreciation Month and local officials talked about the benefits of being close to two facilities that house so many military members and their families. “First of all, I think Marysville has always been proud of our military,” said Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring. “It’s always great to see people who are serving this country within our community,” said Arlington Mayor Barbara Tolbert. Last year was busier than normal for the Army Reserve because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ric Ilgenfritz named Community Transit CEO

He will start the position Jan. 11, 2021. “Ric is an experienced transit leader in our region, with a clear commitment and desire to serve our community,” said Board Chair and Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring. “Ric’s background in successfully leading a variety of large transportation initiatives and teams combined with his personal passion for public service makes him an ideal candidate to lead Community Transit into the next chapter of the agency’s history.”
