Seven military-connected students have been awarded scholarships by the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA). The recipients represent a broad and diverse community of military-affiliated students, from those who are currently serving to the children of those who have.

John Nipper ‘23
John Nipper is from Fort Myers, Florida and is majoring in comparative religion. Nipper transferred to Syracuse University from Florida Southwestern State College an says his first semester was overwhelmingly positive. While a member of the U.S. Navy from 2011 to 2015, Nipper worked as a cryptologic technician. Nipper says his ultimate goal is to make a lasting difference. “That is more important to me than anything else. I want to be a positive force for change in our lifetime,” he says.
