UPDATE 5/11/2021: Tony Covington, State’s Attorney for Charles County, announced that on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, James Anthony Christian, 46 of Bryans Road, entered a guilty plea to Motor Vehicle Manslaughter and 4 counts of Second-Degree Assault.
On October 14, 2018, troopers from the Maryland State Police responded to Maryland Route 6, west of Burch Road in Port Tobacco for the report of a two-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, troopers observed a Maroon 2015 Nissan Rogue with severe front-end damage on the westbound shoulder of Route 6 and a Black 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with severe rear end damage in a private driveway. Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Waldorf Fire and Rescue Squad were already on scene.

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, at approximately 2:58 a.m., Trooper R. Thomas from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry for a traffic violation.
Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed 3 loaded handguns, 198 grams of suspected marijuana, suspected Oxycodone, suspected Codeine and US Currency.
The driver was identified as Marvin Darkwah, 24-year-old of Alexandria, VA, and the passengers were identified as Phil Darkwah, 27-year-old of Alexandria, VA, and Zachary Davis, 25-year-old of Alexandria, VA.

On Thursday, December 24, 2020, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded for a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Maryland Route 257 (Rock Point Road) in the area of Pleasant View Place in Newburg, Maryland.
Due to the seriousness of the collision, the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack requested a Collision Reconstruction Specialist (CRS) to assume the investigation. Trooper First Class (TFC) B. White of the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack responded as requested.
A preliminary investigation conducted by Troopers indicates a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser operated by Scott Allan Daniel (52 yoa) of Sebring, Florida was traveling northbound on Maryland Route 257 in the area of Pleasant View Place. For reason unknown at this time, the Chrysler traveled off the roadway and struck a ditch/culvert. The Chrysler then became airborne and overturned.
