The Maryland General Assembly wrapped up a busy 90-day session with a marathon day of lawmaking, passing hundreds of bills, mostly with ease, although there were spurts of tension around proposed new laws to control gun ownership and grapple with the impending legalization of recreational cannabis.
The bill would provide exceptions for some people to carry handguns without a license, including law enforcement and correctional officers, security guards and members of the armed forces who are on duty or traveling to and from duty.
