recently told the bbc that could be disastrous, leading to crippling inflation. of all of the economic concerns facing the economic concerns facing the afghan people right now, this one may well be the most imminent. one of the huge changes seen in afghanistan over the last 20 years was women in the workforce and girls being educated. many women now run businesses and serve as doctors, hold positions in government, some are soldiers and work in the police. the world bank estimates more than a fifth of the labour market in afghanistan was made up of women last year. many now are extremely anxious about what will happen to them under taliban rule, despite assurances from the regime that they will honour women s rights within islamic law. joining me now is maryam popal zahid, ceo, afghan women on the move.
