On February 5, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held video conference working session with participation of some Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of relative ministries and profile departments. Outcomes of development of trade complex of the country last year have been discussed at the session.
Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers G. Mushikov and E. Orazgeldiyev have been invited to the session. Agricultural sector, which is supervised by E. Orazgeldiyev, is closely related to work of trade complex, which is supervised by Vice-premier Ch. Gylyjov.

On February 3, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has held video conference meeting on development of agricultural complex with participation of some Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of relative ministry and profile departments as well as directors of profile universities.
Opening the session, during which the outcomes of work of agricultural complex in the last year have been reviewed, the head of the state highlighted that agricultural complex is one of the main branches of national economy. The government invests big resources to the agriculture and despite this fact, there are many deficiencies and unused capabilities in agrarian sector, the President of the country highlighted.

Five conscientious objectors to compulsory military service who had already served sentences were jailed again in trials on 18 and 19 January. Courts gave all five two-year terms, four of them in strict-regime labour camp, bringing to six the number jailed so far in 2021. All had offered to perform an alternative civilian service, but Turkmenistan does not offer this. Nine of the 14 known jailed conscientious objectors – all of them Jehovah s Witnesses – are serving second sentences.
In a series of trials on 18 and 19 January, courts have jailed five more conscientious objectors, all of them Jehovah s Witnesses. As the five young men had previously served sentences for refusing compulsory service on grounds of conscience, four of the five were given two-year terms in strict regime labour camp.
