Jackson County veterans of the Korean War will be honored at the courthouse on Thursday, July 29, at 6 p.m.
The Old Hickory Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be hosting the ceremony that will include the laying of a wreath.
It is unknown the number of Jackson Countians who served in this conflict, but 10 men were killed in action. Their names are inscribed on the memorial located on the courthouse lawn.
“This is sometimes the forgotten war,” said Mary Pistelli, organizer of the event. “We never want these veterans to think their sacrifice and service was not appreciated.”
