£750 for promising comedy talent
The comedy writing prize set up in memory of Reggie Perrin creator David Nobbs has increased its prize.
This year’s winner will receive £750, up from £500, while any runners-up will continue to receive £250. Also, for the first time, winners will get a one-on-one consultation with an established comedy producer.
Entries have opened today for the award. Hopefuls must already have a broadcast credit for writing, and submit a 500-word statement describing their career goals.
Judges are Lucy Lumsden, owner of Yellow Door Productions and formerly head of comedy commissioning at both Sky and the BBC; the comedian Roisin Conaty, who created the Channel 4 sitcom, Gameface; and actor and writer Daniel Lawrence Taylor, whose comedy Timewasters is currently being adapted for a possible US TV series.
