THE Faculty of Education, Lagos State University, LASU, has conducted an orientation programme for new intakes of its newest programme, Doctor of Education, described as first of its kind in the country.
The event took place at the conference room, Faculty of Education, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos. The Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Tunde Owolabi, in his speech welcomed the postgraduate students. He stated that the Department of Educational Management was the first in the country to offer the professional course, Doctor of Education at that level.
He added that elsewhere, in the United States of America, the course is equally offered. “Doctor of Education focuses more on professionalism, while PhD dwells more on research. D. ED is a course is rigorous. We have resource persons that will give you the best. You are in good hands. Be focused. Our faculty is the first that will offer such professional course at a doctorate level. I wish you the best”, he stated.

Okogie donates N25m water plant to Augustine varsity

FORMER Archbishop of the Lagos Diocese, Catholic Church, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, has donated a water plant valued at over N25 million to Augustine University located at Ilara in Epe area of Lagos State.
Speaking during the inauguration of the water plant, the cleric, who is also the visioner of the university, thanked those who assisted him to donate the water plant and other laudable development in the institution.
He appreciated the proprietor of the institution,who is also the Metropolitan Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, for his fatherly and extraordinary care of the staff and students of the institution.

Augustine University graduates second set of students

AUGUSTINE University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State has turned out its second set of graduating students. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Odetunde, said five out of the 38 graduating students got first class degree, while 20 got Second Upper Class, 11 in the Second Lower Class and two with Third Class.
Odetunde noted that despite the challenges posed by the outbreak of Corona virus disease in the country, the university was waxing stronger and would soon introduce some new courses.
He stated that officials of the National Universities Commission, NUC, would soon visit the school in respect of its preparations for the proposed courses. The courses are Biotechnology, Cybersecurity; Fishery; Information Technology; Mass Communication; Political Science; and Software Engineering. NANS honours Yabatech Rector, Omokungbe

NATIONAL Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South-West Zone recently presented the 2020 NANS South-West Outstanding Personality Distinguished Award to the Rector, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe as Icon of Education Development.
The eight-man delegation led by the Chairman, NANS JCC Lagos State, Comrade Abdulquowiyy Busari, noted that the award of excellence was given to Omokungbe for his able leadership and infrastructural drive which has created a conducive and enabling environment for proper learning and teaching.
Busari disclosed that he nominated five names of prominent personalities in the zone for this prestigious at the last NANS South- West zone meeting but Omokungbe was unanimously selected by all for the award.
