‘Margaritaville’ singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who passed away Friday at age 76, was diagnosed with skin cancer four years ago, TMZ reported Saturday, citing sources close to the star. That disease eventually progressed into lymphoma, which then killed him. Buffett began receiving hospice care last Monday, and a week ago, Sir Paul McCartney reportedly came to Buffett’s home and sang to his family.
One of my favorite Jimmy Buffett quotes is “If there’s a heaven for me, I’m sure it has a beach attached.” And now it has a new leader of the band. For the rest of us, his music and stories live on.
