A. M. , people were taken out of the base, some with their hands up. I have a report of an active shooter. Dont know much than anybody else. Reporter he was locked out of the base due to the shutdown. Im praying for my colleagues in their barricaded behind locked doors. Reporter it was soon discovered that there was no gunman. They were preparing for an active Shooter Drill adding to the confusion when the report was made of an active shooter. Joint base andrews released a statement describing what unfolded this way. Joint base andrews was scheduled to conduct a nonotice active shooter exercise. However, reports of a realworld active shooter situation at the medical facility were miscommunicated before the exercise was to begin. There was a misidentification of the Security Forces Emergency Services team who were conducting a routi of the medical facility, which caused the distress call. Base officials are not saying who made the call. The base is used by active and nonactive personnel
