lawmakers closed the gap bypassing new taxes and making cuts. the most controversial new tax, the bottle tax was passed, and reaction is still strong even though some call it a compromise. cold drinks are a hot commodity as temperatures soar, and they are about to get a little more expensive in baltimore city. the city council passed a two-cent tax on water, soda, beer and drinks sold in cans or bottles. half a loaf is better than none. we got a two-cent bottle tax. the tax will ent in three years, but it still isn t sitting well with the beverage industry. this is a tax that citizens of baltimore will touch when they go to breakfast, lunch, dinner, the sports field with their kids, and we believe it is a huge mistake for baltimore city. opponents had a last-ditch demonstration, saying it will endanger jobs at stores and bottling plants. once businesses leave the city, it is a hard return this. is a huge mistake for the city again today. this city councilwoman v
