Smart Communications Inc. and Protect Wildlife jointly funded 20 School-in-a-Bag packages for off-grid learning communities to help bridge the digital divide for “last mile schools” and provide access to educational content on wildlife and biodiversity conservation. The initiative is part of the partnership between Protect Wildlife, a project under the United States Agency for International Development (USAid), and Smart’s parent company, PLDT Inc.
Protect Wildlife aims to reduce threats to biodiversity and illegal trade of wildlife in ecologically significant areas in Palawan, Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) and Region 12 (Soccsksargen) while promoting social and economic development in local communities. It is implemented with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
