In my first book
Musicians (1988), the frontispiece included this quote by Nietzsche: “Without music, life would be a mistake.” It’s about as blunt and direct a truth about the power of music as any I can think of. As I shared last week, music has been a big part of my life ever since I was a child. I cannot begin to imagine what my life would have been like without music.
