This sailed through assembly ask today, ab 1517, setting guidelines for testing of rape kits passed the Senate Public Safety Committee on a 50 vote. Alameda County District attorney sponsored this measure after the i team found thousands of untested rape kits in storage rooms around the bay area. If it gets to the governors desk were going to have to sit down and decide whether or not were going to ask the governor to veto the bill or if were going to live with consequences of the bill. The Sheriffs Association has been a strong supporter of the governor.
