Professor Archie Malcolm
Professor Archie Malcolm, who has died aged 69, was a pathologist who specialised in bones, bone cancer and joints.
Over the last 40 years there have been major advances in the treatment for bone cancer, and survival rates have risen from 20 per cent to 60 per cent. A pathologist is a crucial member of the team caring for such patients; they need to make an accurate diagnosis and are then intimately involved in the planning and monitoring of treatment.
