SPOKANE, Wash. For our most vulnerable living in retirement communities, this past year has been full of isolation and loneliness. As COVID cases spread throughout Spokane, many had to stay away from family and friends. On this Mother’s Day, families were able to come together and celebrate.
Touchmark Retirement Community held a brunch for residents and their families today. Eileen Parker moved to Touchmark in September. She came from Colorado and wasn’t sure she could deal with the loneliness in her new environment.
“To come to a new state, a different state, and live in a retirement facility, I cried because it was almost too much for me to accept,” Eileen said.
