Many COVID-19 Test Sites Are Closing In Palm Beach County

By Joel Malkin Several COVID-19 testing sites are closing in Palm Beach County. Emergency Management Director Mary Blakeney told county commissioners on Tuesday that all state-run testing locations are shutting down later this week. Those include sites at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, the V.A. Medical Center and Town Center Boca Raton. Blakeney says there will still be plenty of places available to get tested for the coronavirus. With the network of private providers, pharmacies and public health clinics who provide testing, we feel this combination of these resources will meet the current demand for testing. Blakeney says 893,092 COVID-19 tests have been conducted throughout Palm Beach County since testing began.

Ron DeSantis addresses the media on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, concerning two pieces of legislation, HB 419 and HB 7011, that will provide a more seamless transition for students from voluntary pre-kindergarten through high school graduation. The bills, which DeSantis signed into law after the news conference, will put greater accountability on the 15-year-old VPK program, which offers free pre-kindergarten to 4-year-old children. Gov. Ron DeSantis order overriding all local rules requiring mask-wearing appears largely symbolic in the culture war surrounding what some in his Republican party consider the chief symbol of COVID-19 oppression.
