Seniors get surprise Easter baskets at nursing home
More than 80 residents at Medilodge of Monroe got a surprise Easter basket filled with goodies at their door Sunday thanks to the generosity of the Ray 4 Hope grandparent program launched by Shellie Ray.
The single mother of three children from Newport gathered donations online and put in her own money to provide baskets to the senior citizens. Both she and her daughter, Laynie Tipton, 16, stayed up until midnight Saturday filling the baskets and then delivered them in two vehicles Sunday morning. Staff from assisted care facility met them outside and loaded the baskets on carts to be brought inside.
