To the Editor:
The people of Ogdensburg and surrounding area should rightly be proud of the young men who served in the armed services during World War II.
I m sure that the families of these men are, as I am, pleased that the Pride and Beautification Commission created the program, named Hometown Hero Banners, which made it possible to have portraits of some of the service members to be displayed along Ford Street in Ogdensburg.
These soldiers, many of them only teenagers, made it possible for us to have democracy preserved. Some never survived to walk the street where their picture is now displayed.
