We imagine Bible stories as we read. In the story of Jesus calming the storm, we see the waves, we hear the cry of the disciples, we imagine lightning splitting the sky. Music and art offer us an entirely different viewpoint. The musician writes calmer music than we expected; the artist uses pastels when we imagined bold strokes. The disciples don’t look like us; Jesus isn’t exactly as we thought. Various perspectives are important. It is through these that we understand all that God wants us to learn. Adventist World

Lorraine Vasquez places a wreath for her father Amadeo Gonzales, who served in World War II, during the Wreaths Across America Saturday in Gypsum. The event took place at more than 2,500 locations across the country, including Eagle and Gypsum as well.

Several members of Eagle County resident Mary Ann Baker’s family are buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Her father, Edmund Koehler Daley Jr., fought for the U.S. Army in the Korean and Vietnam wars. When she saw his grave wrapped in a wreath, surrounded by thousands of others similarly decorated, the image stuck with her.

The History Center was recently contacted by a man who had acquired a short letter written in Lockport on July 16, 1834. The letter was originally sent to Rufus Fanning in Lewiston from Mess. Gardner & Morse, Counsellors, in Lockport. Fanning then returned it with a reply. The letter concerns papers being served on Henry H. Hill, town of Niagara. The man who has the letter expressed an interest in knowing more about the men whose names are contained in it, so here is what has been learned about them.
