Maruti increases prices of select models by up to ₹34,000

The country’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Monday said it has increased the prices across its models ranging up to ₹34,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
“This is to inform you that the company is increasing the price for select models owing to increase in various input costs,” the company said in a stock filing.
The new prices are effective from January 18, the company added.
MSIL is one of the last companies to increase the prices in January.
Companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, BMW India Group and others have already announced price increase effective early January.
Cab Driver Dies, Four Sustain Injuries in Road Mishap
SRINAGAR: Driver of a cab was killed even as four other on-board persons suffered injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in hit a tree at Nikas area of this south-Kashmir district on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that an overspeeding Maruti Car bearing Registration number JK-03A 0721 driven by one Suhail Ahmad Dar son of Mohammed Maqbool Dar resident of Keegam area of the district met the accident purportedly after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
In the incident, the driver died on-spot and four other persons identified as Danish Akbar Reshi (15) son of Mohammed Akbar, Ubaid Maqbool (24) son of Mohammed Maqbool, Mohammed Saboor Dar (15) son of Manzoor Ahmad Dar and Danish Ahmad Dar (14) son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, sustained bodily injuries.
