EDEN Residents of a small community in central Texas gathered together and lit candles on a dreary Tuesday night to mourn the loss of two Concho County deputies who were slain in the line of duty.
A group of nearly 300 people congregated en masse at the historic city square of Eden, 120 Paint Rock St. They came to mourn, to cry, to hug and hold one another and begin the healing process after what local authorities called a senseless tragedy.
For reasons still unknown, the situation escalated into gunfire, and Samuel Leonard and Stephen Jones were left fatally wounded.
