A Delaware River tributary running through Slate Belt communities is healthier, and the surrounding farmland is better off, thanks to a restoration project led by Wildlands Conservancy.
The conservancy based outside Emmaus this week announced the completion of a $475,000 restoration on a nearly one-mile stretch of Oughoughton Creek.
Winding through Upper Mount Bethel and Washington townships before emptying into the Delaware in Lower Mount Bethel Township at the Martins Creek Boat Access, Oughoughton Creek was eroding farmlands directly adjacent to the water’s edge where the soil is composed of highly erodible cobble and loose boulders called glacial till, according to Wildl
