Photo: Ramunas Bruzas/Shutterstock.com.  A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) order, unveiled on Jan. 29, will likely require all passengers onboard cruise ships to wear masks while sailing once the cruise industry returns to sailing in North America. The order, which can be found in full here, was issued late on Friday and requires all travelers “into, within, or out of the United States” traveling by “airplane, ships, ferries, trains, subways, buses, taxis, and ride-shares” to wear a face mask.

At a press conference Sunday in Miami Gardens, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Health explained that officials had been having difficulties with people not answering their phone to schedule the second dose appointment. Another major factor causing delays, the spokesperson said, is people showing up hours before their scheduled appointment. Patients should arrive no more than thirty minutes ahead of their time slot, Public Information Officer Mike Jachles said. The mandate issued by CDC division director Martin S. Vaccinations for D.C.-area teachers began this week. So far, more than 1,130 D.C. public school teachers and staff and 802 charter school teachers and staff have been vaccinated with their first dose. Starting Monday, Feb. 1, child care providers and independent school teachers and staff in D.C. will be eligible to book a vaccination appointment as well. About 1,400 appointments will be made available for the first week of February and 900 appointments for each subsequent week.
