CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - Like most new programs, the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball team endured some lean years after being founded in 2016.
Head coach Steve Loeswick inherited the team three years ago and things have been trending up ever since.
âI fell into a really lucky situation,â said Loeswick. âWhen they brought me on, we didnât have a ton of beach-only athletes. We had to use a lot from the indoor to kind of get us through those first couple of years. Once we got some talented beach athletes and were able to train them up and itâs been really exciting these last few years.â

CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina beach volleyball received votes in the 2021 AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball preseason poll, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.
Last season, the Chanticleers were off to a 10-2 start to the 2020 spring season before the coronavirus pandemic abruptly canceled the season in mid-March.
The Chants went 4-0 to win the UAB Tournament in late February and then went 3-1 at the CofC Beach Bash with the program’s first-ever win over the College of Charleston Cougars.
