Gloucestershire s new PCC pledges to get more bobbies on the beat

The Conservative Party candidate said he was very humbled and quite surprised to have been elected.  He received a total of 91,907 votes ahead of Liberal Democrat Chris Coleman who polled 59,838.  Mr Nelson will now take on the role of holding the police to account and make sure they deliver an effective and efficient service in the county.  He said one of his key priorities will be to tackle anti-social behaviour and secure more resources for police to be able to do their job in the county.  “By resources, I mean more bobbies on the beat, more special constables, more resources for the control room,” he said.
