More than a dozen people attended the initial event, at Cliffe Castle. The free sessions are continuing every Sunday, at 9.30am. People of all ages and abilities are welcome – and participants can run, jog or walk around the grounds. “We felt the launch event went really well for a first session,” said a spokesman. “Over a dozen people – plus a few dogs – attended and walked, talked and ran!” The scheme, dubbed #ItsWorthRunningAbout, is being organised by running enthusiast Martin Southam. He started running as part of the Red January campaign last year and has now clocked-up over 450 consecutive days of 5k runs, in an effort to promote exercise as a form of wellbeing.
