If you’re looking for evidence of the Recall Sawant campaign operating in bad faith, look no further than their opening salvo: about 38,000 big, double-sided mailers full of the same bullshit Sawant haters have been hurling at her for years from the safety of their rapidly appreciating homes.
On the front, the mailer displays a copy of a petition the campaign wants District 3 residents to sign, which includes the three alleged offenses they’re supposedly so pissed off about: letting protesters into City Hall in the middle of a pandemic, “leading” a protest to the Mayor’s house, and spending around $1,700 to run off some posters and to text out some ads for a Tax Amazon ballot initiative she promoted to make sure the council stuck to its word to tax the rich. WASHINGTON The coronavirus has wreaked havoc on the U.S. economy, yet billionaires in Washington and across the globe are significantly wealthier than they were a year ago, according to this year s recently released Forbes World s Billionaires List.
The number of billionaires on Forbes 35th annual list jumped to an unprecedented 2,755 people, 660 more than a year ago. Altogether, they are worth $13.1 trillion, up from $8 trillion in 2020.
Among those on the list, 86 percent are richer today than they were a year ago.
