Fianna Fáil will hold a crunch meeting next month to shape the party's 'policy and mission' after an internal report found a lack of identity cost it votes in
Taoiseach Micheál Martin gave us an exclusive tour of his office in Government Buildings where he points to the portraits of historical figures and art work that hang on the walls.
Mr Martin said that the choice of portraits was down to the fact that an historic coalition had been forged between Fianna Fail and Fine Gael. So he chose Michael Collins, from Clonakilty, not far from where he himself grew up.
‘Of course he was killed in the Civil War, at Beal na mBlath, it was tragic as he was one of the great leaders of the struggle,’ said Mr Martin pointing to the portrait which hangs to the left of the fireplace by the Italian sculpture Bossi. There are only two of these fireplaces in Ireland, the other is in Aras an Uacharain.
