A Massachusetts State Police sergeant charged in New Hampshire with assaulting his girlfriend has been denied bail, with a judge ruling Tuesday the record.

BRENTWOOD – The Massachusetts state trooper charged with felony domestic violence in connection with an incident involving his extramarital girlfriend Jan. 31 in Exeter has been denied bail by a Rockingham Superior Court judge.
Judge Martin Honigberg wrote in a decision released Tuesday that Trooper Sgt. Bryan Erickson presented a level of a danger. He cited the charge he allegedly sought to control the actions of his girlfriend the day leading into their altercation during the early morning hours of Jan. 31, and then allegedly drove through residential Exeter streets at high speed to avoid being stopped by local police.
Hank Brennan, one of Erickson’s attorneys, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
According to an affidavit, Exeter police responded to a 9-1-1 call early Sunday morning.
The alleged victim said Sgt. Bryan Erickson, 38, had assaulted her, resulting in bruises and scratches.
Erickson, who is married to another person, was then allegedly spotted by another Exeter police officer. He fled in a Ford 150 truck, according to the affidavit, hitting speeds approaching 80 mph. After crossing into neighboring Kensington, Exeter Police discontinued their pursuit.
Erickson was arrested Sunday morning at his home by Massachusetts State Police, and then transferred back to New Hampshire.
During an arraignment Tuesday in Rockingham County Superior Court, county prosecutors argued Erickson should be held without bail pending trial.
