Arthur Kaliyev gives Kings a dynamic debut, and a moment he won t ever forget

It was a dynamic debut for Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev last night at STAPLES Center. Really, if you take out the fact that the Kings lost the game, it could not have gone much better for the 19-year-old forward. Kaliyev joined exclusive company, in more ways than one. The talented winger became the 23rd teenager, and 20th youngest player all-time, to debut for the LA Kings when he was officially listed on the team’s game roster. Early in the second period, Kaliyev made history yet again, as he became the 21st player to score in his LA Kings debut, making it three times in as many seasons the Kings have had a player do so.

2/1 Notebook - Kempe returns, Kaliyev, strong PP, Reign schedule, Wagner

Quick / Petersen / Ingham Jacob Ingham and Matthew Villalta swapped places today, with Villalta assigned to the AHL’s Ontario Reign and Ingham recalled to the taxi squad. This is something we can expect to see at points throughout the season, to keep both goaltenders getting games with Ontario. With Kempe back in, the Kings had 15 forwards on the ice today. Martin Frk completed his second consecutive practice with the team, while, like yesterday, Matt Luff joined the group for his first full skate back, in a regular practice jersey. The expectation is that Frk will not be ready for tomorrow against Anaheim, nor will Luff, which means that one of Arthur Kaliyev or Jaret Anderson-Dolan will likely make their season-debut, or in Kaliyev’s case, his NHL debut. From the line combinations over the last two days, the more likely option at this point appears to be Kaliyev, who skated with a regular unit yesterday and today.
