This morning, the tanker truck lost control and burst into flames, and it was a fireball. The driver was killed instantly. It is unclear how the driver lost control, but we understand this was the only vehicle involved in the accident. We are waiting to get more information from the chp on exactly how this crash took place in what led to this accident. We understand again, the driver was killed in the crash, and you can see this mess that is left behind. In terms of traffic, 880 northbound, the far right lane is still closed off for the emergency crews, and the davis street offramp from northbound 880 is still shut down. We have traffic getting by in the other lanes, but again, the far right lane shut down causing a backup on northbound 880. And to get a sense of how far the backup is extended, we will go back to sal. Good morning. The driver could not get out and died at the scene. The chp is still trying to figure out what caused this deadly crash. No indicator of another vehicle being involved and no indication of brakes being aplayed. Often, when this occurs, it could be somebody falling asleep or having a medical issue. As far as this specific collision is involved, its too early to say. Reporter now, the investigators here at the scene have not yet identified the driver of that tanker truck who, again, was killed in this Early Morning crash. They have not given us yet the name of the company but we understand it is a motor oil company out of san jose. Thats who this truck belongs to. Prepresumably, thats who this driver worked for. We still have the wreckage of this truck on the side of the roadway. Northbound 880 shut down near davis street. Thats backing up traffic here, obviously, during this morning commute. Mentioned. It started in garrapidas state park south of carmel. So far, its Holding Steady at 20 homes destroyed. The heat and humidity are making it difficult to contain the fire. Another challenge is the rough terrain, its very teen and mountainous. Cal fire could not drop any water from the air pause there was low visibility. So it was up to ground crews who were laying hose. They are getting tired. You know, the terrain is steep. They are having to hike a long ways, putting in long hose lays to get in there. That could be miles long. So far, 300 people have been evacuated. They are anxious and they are worried and asked a lot of questions of cal fire. Still more than 1600 homes threatened and more people around the area surrounding carmel could be evacuated. Could be a while before they could get to their home. Cal fire does not expect to have containment until next try day, august 5th. Back out here live, there are a lot of firefighters that are being brought in. We are hearing no
