THE head of policing in Ryedale has offered advice and guidance to pet owners in the district following concerns raised over dog thefts. A report was made to police that an unknown man approached a dog walker and attempted to take his dog at about 7.15pm on Monday, March 1 in Pluntrain Dale Lane, Pickering. The dog walker sustained minor injuries in the attack Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Martin Dennison: “We know there is a lot of concern around dog thefts both nationally and in North Yorkshire but we want to reassure our communities that these type of incidents are incredibly rare.
