Securing acceptance to universities is no exception and application deadlines are looming. “There’s a lot of things I’ve missed out on,” said senior Martin Burgess, who attends La Vergne High School where his father, Martin Burgess, is a science teacher.  High school seniors around the U.S. are facing those application deadlines without SAT and ACT entrance exam scores, community service records and resumes flush with extracurricular activities all casualties of an era of social distancing and remote learning that has carried over from their junior year.

But that was never going to happen – and, while the devil is in the detail, it appears to be much better than I had recently imagined. I predict that our future relationship with the EU will be far more cooperative and mutually beneficial than it has been over the last 40 years. We were always the unwelcome party guest (even though we brought lots of presents) and we knew this, yet we kept returning in the hope that things would change.
