Altercation
A year after he was employed, Thoka said he had a verbal altercation with Matsena s sister. He decided to resign from his job because of how he was treated . He also said he did not regularly receive his full salary .
Following his resignation, Thoka asked Matsena to return his possessions, including a phone, driver s licence, a hair cutter and clothes.

Thoka opened a case of assault against Matsena, but the matter was later withdrawn.

Pretoria - The man accused of killing ANC MPL Mapiti Matsena was convicted of murder and housebreaking with the intent to commit murder.
This followed the guilty plea by Monoko Thoka, 30, in the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria.
Thoka told Judge Hennie de Vos that he knew the consequences of his guilty plea and that, if no mitigating factors could be found, he could face life behind bars.
It had emerged from a post mortem report that Thoka had stabbed Matsena at least 11 times at the MPL’s Doornpoort, north of Pretoria home on July 15 last year.

The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has allowed Monoko Francis Thoka to prepare his guilty plea.
Thoka allegedly stabbed Matsena to death at his home in Doornpoort, Pretoria in July 2020.

Thoka s lawyer, advocate Martin Botha, told the court he needed time to prepare the guilty plea with the accused.
