Well the numbers from the philippines is staggering. The latest report says 10 Million People have been affected by typhoon haiyan, and one Senior Police official put the death toll at at least 10,000. Getting in and out is a major obstacle. President obama issued a statement about typhoon haiyan. He said, i know the incredible resiliency of the philippine people and im confident the spirit will see you through this tragedy. The United States is providing significant humanitarian assistance and we stand to assist the governments relief and recovery. Now the storms have passed the philippines, officials are travelling to areas to see how bad it is. Lets get to whats happening right now out there as we have new developments to share from the philippines in this hour with typhoon haiyan causing disaster of epic proportions. Victims have been buried under debris, corpses have been found hanging from trees. The storm so powerful it washed a large ship ashore. It packed winds that gusted to 170 miles an hour with a 20foot storm surge. One witness says the water was as high as a coconut tree. The storm has weakened to a category 1. It is now headed toward vietnam. It is expected to hit there later today. Reporter angus walker is in one of the hardest hit areas. He has more on the damage and the struggle to get help to those who desperately need it. Reporter feared dead are now 10,000. That means the death toll has gone up ten times in less than 24 hours. Nancy 74yearold husband as he reached for a tool he dropped. The reason he this the it was a spider bite but he heard the rattle and oh, no. This is a photo of edmond swolen left hand. Medic rushed in the hospital for treatment while firefighters kill the snake. I cant recall the last tim we had anyone bitten by a snake. Doctors treating the victim couldnt either. They are rare but native to the region. They are found resting on warm asphalt and tall bushes interhome and on deck. And the recent heat wave likely drew even more to the area. Just so happens that the garage tends to be very cool shady place. Police in the they leave the garage door open in the summer and the snake go in.
