the president has been speaking in very personal terms about this over the course of the past few days. all right, arlette saenz, thank you very much. joining me now memphis city council chairman martavious jones. thank you very much for joining us. we appreciate it. i know this has been an incredibly emotional time for all of you and for you to watch those videos of tyree m nichols. it s gut wrenching to see him crying out for his mother. i know you broke down like many americans who watch this. it just rips your heart out. how are you feeling today? how is your community feeling today? i m feeling much better today. i ve received a lot of calls, emails, texts from people all over the country in support of this. i have to thank my network for providing me encouragement and uplift during this tough time for my community and i hope that with that support that i m able to lend that to the community that i love and serve.
indicated last night, there could possibly be other officers held accountable for this situation. justice looks like they re not getting away with the killing of this man. you know, i think about it. i m not that tall, wolf. i m 5 7 and weigh 160 pounds. this man was 150, 6 3 so he s a very slight build and from the photographs that i ve seen, these were some of these guys were six feet or greater and i would imagine that none of them probably weighed less than 200 pounds. so to have that type of have the type of anger, of multiple people to beat on another human being under the color of law, i think that those people really need to be held accountable for their actions. yeah, we ll see what happens. martavius jones, thanks for joining us. back to our panel right now and, abby, let me get back to you first.
officers are now in custody as prosecutors unveil murder charges in the death of tyre nichols. also s discuss with the chairman of the memphis city council martavious jones. chairman, thanks for joining us. first of all, what went through your mind hearing these five fired officers are being charged with second degree murder. well, thank you for having me, wolf. the city council met on tuesday and we had members of the public coming down voicing their opinions loudly, i may add, about releasing the video as well as charges and so although the video will not be released until tomorrow this will go a long way in sending a message the former officers involved in this situation will be held accountable for the deeds that they did to mr. nichols. how is the memphis community, chairman, preparing for the release of this video which authorities themselves are calling absolutely appalling?
