Ground broken for new Marshfield Police headquarters
Wicked Local
Construction of Marshfield s new police headquarters has been underway for a number of weeks, but a ceremony last week officially marked groundbreaking on the project which will see the current outdated structure replaced with a modern station double the size. It is a building that will allow for the future growth of the town, Police Chief Phil Tavares said. The new facility will incorporate the most modern and best practices for day-to-day operations of a police station, from safety and security to functionality and usability.
Demolition of the former Marshfield Department of Public Works headquarters got underway in January; the new station will sit on that plot of land, directly behind the existing police structure, which will itself be demolished. The DPW moved to an existing building on Route 139 close to Pembroke, which the town purchased and is retrofitting.
