Richard McCullough has been chosen as the next president to run Florida State University after a contentious process that saw Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran snuffed out early. McCullough was chosen after a months-long and much-scrutinized search. The decision, determined by a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees Monday, is still subject to approval by the FSU Board of Governors. That meeting is expected to happen in June. Since 2012, McCullough has been the vice provost for research at Harvard. In that role McCullough was charged with working with the president and provost to “encourage, cultivate, and coordinate high impact academic research across all of Harvard’s schools and affiliated institutions,” according to the college’s website.

The University of Florida put out a series of April Fools Day  breaking news broadcasts Thursday on Twitter announcing that the new HiPerGator AI artificial intelligence supercomputer would take over decision-making for President Kent Fuchs, 18 vice presidents and Florida Gators football head coach Dan Mullen. The videos featured segments of various leaders and students poking fun at each other and the joke.
