Get our free mobile app According to a news release from the Marshall Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of an explosion and fire in an occupied home at 532 Clinton Street at approximately 1;43 a.m. Monday, April 12.

Eight injured in Marshall house explosion and fire

MARSHALL - Eight people were injured early Monday when a home exploded and caught fire. Marshall Fire Chief Martin Erskine said all eight were taken to either Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo or Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, with some believed to have serious injuries. He said officials are gathering information on their identities and medical conditions. Later in the day Erskine and Marshall Police Chief Josh Lankerd said five people remain at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Those were identified as two women, ages 27 and 43, two men, both 38, and a 2-year-old girl. Three others, a man, 36, woman, 35, and boy 10, were all treated at hospitals and released.
