LAVALETTE — Students from seven higher education institutions and one high school competed in the Concrete Canoe competition Friday at Beech Fork Lake Marina at Lavalette.

Huntington – Dr. Sukjoon Na and Dr. Sungmin Youn, assistant professors of Civil Engineering in Marshall University’s College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, have received a $25,000 research grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through its People, Prosperity and the Planet program.
The funding is part of nearly $800,000 awarded to 32 student teams nationally to develop and demonstrate projects that help address environmental and public health challenges.
