Amid Unending Killings, Buhari Mulls Fresh Strategy at Security Meeting

•In 3 months, bandits kill 323 in Kaduna State; Boko Haram attacks Yunusari LG of Yobe State Deji Elumoye in Abuja and John Shiklam in Kaduna Amid deteriorating security across the country, caused by Boko Haram, bandits and other terrorists, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday convened a meeting of the National Security Council at the State House, Abuja, to fashion out new strategies to stem the unending killings. The meeting is coming less than 24 hours after Boko Haram intensified their assault on the country by attacking Kanamma, headquarters of Yunusari Local Government Council of Yobe, State, barely a week after they invaded Geidam and displaced over 6,000 residents.

Insecurity: Buhari ready to take profound measures

Stephen Angbulu, Abuja Published 30 April 2021 The National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd.), on Friday said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was prepared to take “profound measures” in tackling the security challenges being witnessed across the country. He however did not disclose the nature of the measures. Monguno disclosed this in a statement he issued after a meeting Buhari had with the nation’s security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of Defence, Major-General Bashir Magashi (retd.); and National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd.), attended the meeting with the President.
