Great Falls house fire victim identified and last updated 2020-12-30 14:15:53-05 GREAT FALLS — Gary Lewis Brockway, 58 years old, has been identified as the man found dead inside a home that burned on Monday. Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said that the autopsy indicated there were signs of smoke inhalation. At this point, the death has been ruled as an accident due to inhalation of toxic substances (smoke) and thermal injuries. Toxicology is still pending so there is a possibility that cause/manner of death may change. Mandy Dunn lived next door to Brockway; she said, I think at first, part of me was in denial because I really hoped he wasn t inside the house. But when it really hit me, I think I was more worried about comforting our other friends and stuff before I could fully feel the impact of it myself.

Safety reminders about Christmas trees and holiday lights

Safety reminders about Christmas trees and holiday lights By: Colter Anstaett and last updated 2020-12-15 16:19:18-05 GREAT FALLS — The dim glow of a scented candle illuminating holiday cards is a sight that can be found in many homes during the holidays - but can quickly lead to one much less festive. We see a couple candle fires every year,” said Great Falls Fire Marshal Mike McIntosh. Candles are one of several holiday traditions Great Falls Fire Rescue reminds people to think about. Make sure that if you re using a candle you don t put it near anything that could ignite and (catch) on fire. The other thing we would also recommend is, any time that you leave the room or that you go to bed at night that you make sure that you extinguish that candle,” McIntosh said.
