The Carroll County Board of Education will meet to revise the proposed budget for fiscal 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 125 N. Court St. in Westminster.
The rules, updated with the help of legal counsel Edmund O’Meally, now state that the number of speakers at public school board meetings will be limited to 15, but if the number of requests to speak exceeds 15, the board president would be notified and the board could decide to allow more speakers, according to Carey Gaddis, communications officer for Carroll County Public Schools.
Carroll County Public Schools Superintendent Cynthia McCabe has requested a $13.4 million school funding increase from the county in fiscal 2024. The request was made to accommodate funding formula changes and help pay for new expenses amid implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
The status of feasibility studies for new construction at Freedom Elementary and Sykesville Middle schools will also be addressed at the joint meeting.
