IRON MOUNTAIN A small cabin at the center of City Park will be rehabilitated, thanks to a $25,000 memorial fund contribution and the efforts of a local ski club.
In 2017, the Menominee Range Nordic Ski Club gained permission from the city to use the former “rangers cabin” at the park as a warming shack and youth ski league storage space.
However, it needs work, including new windows and a door, a fireplace insert and chimney repair, City Manager Jordan Stanchina said.
Recently, the August Lilja Trust committed $25,000 to the project, the city council learned Monday. With the donation, the ski club is prepared to complete the project in 2021.
