Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a January move for free-agent forward Alex Teixeira as they seek to push on in the second half of the season.
Teixeira, 31, is now unattached after leaving Chinese club Jiangsu Suning earlier this month. He joined the Far East outfit in February 2016 after Liverpool pulled out of a deal to sign him the previous month.

Teixeira enjoyed his spell in the Chinese Super League, scoring 73 goals from 153 appearances. But it was his assist numbers that caught the eye, with 43 for the current Chinese champions.

Reports in the Spanish media claim Valencia will turn their attention to Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba if they fail to sign Lucas Torreira.
The La Liga strugglers are desperate to recruit in January after a poor first half of the campaign. Los Che sit 14th of the 20 clubs but are just two points above the relegation zone.
They have targeted Torreira, who is on a season-long loan with Atletico Madrid from Arsenal. The Uruguay international has found game time hard to come by with Los Rojiblancos.
