Had, actually Southern Maryland, Northern Neck of virginia. This narrow band there. Unloaded an inch to two inches of snow parts of the Northern Neck, into st. Marys county, lower eastern shore. Now locally were just getting lingering snow showers and flurries in areas in gray and white across Northern Virginia and into the nearby suburbs in maryland. Its going to be with us here perhaps for another hour or two. And then ending. Up to about an inch of snow generally. All these areas in the purple color, until 9 00. A Winter Weather advisory in effect. Its probably going to be expiring around dawn. And most locations, though, around the metro area only had about a dusting to maybe a quarter inch where temperature are only in the upper teens Prince Georges County. Are . Reporter good morning. We are here at pennsylvania avenue right at suitland parkway. And this is an area that i drove through at 2 00 in the morning on my way to work. When i drove on pennsylvania avenue, there was still snow on the roadway. Take a look now. We have seen an improvement since then. The plows have been coming through, putting the chemicals, salt down. And as you see, we have wet conditions here at this location. Traffic is running well. Running at speed. Same thing for suitland parkway. When i drove on it early this morning, there were snowy conditions. Some spots where the snow completely covered the ground. Now, though, we are seeing wet conditions than the snow covered conditions. An improvement. Theres a plow, in fact, about to pass me by here. Putting the chemicals down. Loader loading up some salt. They actually brought in more salt knowing theyre a little low here. But, guys, theyve been salting the interstate. This morning, we spent some time on Prince William parkway. Conditions pretty troublesome early in the morning, but as the day went on, it wasnt that bad. But listen, we tked to some kids this morning because Prince William county schools were closed and they were making the best of the cold weather and the snow. Kids are so lucky, man. Maryland, winchester city, culpeper, stafford, orange, spotsylvania, Prince William, fauquier, rappahannock and king george counties in virginia, all of the School Closings and delays are scrolling on the bottom of your screen. Well bring you the latest as it comes into the newsroom. The cold could impact your commute on the metro. Yesterday a rail cracked near the naylor road station. Metro says something similar could happen again as cracked rail are fairly common with temperatures so low, especial oh aboveground portions of the track. Unfortunately, they say there is no way to avoid that problem. Take a peek outside. You might see snowcovered roads this morning.
