contain even one ounce of judicial humility. there s no doubt in this judge s mind about any of the evidence, about any of the history of 4,000 years of marriage. is he convinced in his own mind that gender means absolutely nothing to either raising children or to the status of marriage and he says that with such confidence and with such arrogance that there s really no room to say anything other than it s quite breathtaking. now we talk about a lot of people talk about how long, you mentioned just throughout time, thousands of years, we have known marriage as between a man and a woman. several states now, at least five, recognize same-sex marriage as well as the district of columbia. is it possible that maybe we have been wrong all this time, that marriage doesn t have to be just between a man and a woman? you know, if we want to have that debate, the proper place for it is in the state legislatures, it is on television, it s in public
elections, seven of them were giving to conservative causes, oem three of the top then were giving to liberal causes and all of those where is unions. if you break the unions, there s no more big outside money on the liberal side at all. you look at what else republi n republicans in wisconsin have been working on, trying to make it much harder to register to vote. they re trying to make it so that you can t use a student i.d. to register to vote. students who register there tend to have a student i.d. and not a driver s license in order to support their registration application. it s all public policy designed to make it easier for republicans to win elections and harder for democrats to win. you haven t been overtly critical of the president on this. do you think it s now time for him to intervene? it s a good question. i think it s an important political question. it s sort of a soul searching democratic party moment right now. this is a partisan war that is being waged by one s
